Brussels, 28th March 2014: The EU formally publishes the
European Public Procurement Directive with a reference the use of BIM in
public works by public contracting authorities. The Directive text can be found here on the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) [LINK]
The article that refers to BIM is Article 22(4) below:
“4. For public works contracts and design contests, Member States
may require the use of specific electronic tools, such as of building
information electronic modelling tools or similar….”
This development presents a great opportunity for public clients to
gain maximum value by collaborating on the aligned introduction of BIM
into European public procurement processes.
